Expertise

Randy is an owner-operator who came to business through accounting and law, then built a restaurant company on character loans. He has carried a ground-up restaurant expansion across state lines and replaced its lender in the middle of the buildout. With an executive, he shares his own story first so they will be open about theirs, and he wants them to solve their own problem. He works the problem the way law school taught him to think: issue, rule, application, conclusion.

Industry

Randy works in restaurant development and operations, and he founded KampCo Foods, which employed more than 700 people. He is a CPA and an attorney admitted to the Oklahoma bar in 1987. His law practice focused on labor and employment, tax and estate planning, elder law, and general corporate law.

Specialties

  • Opening several locations fast with ground-up construction
  • Financing early growth through banks and character loans
  • Ending a role or venture that no longer fits
  • Executives who have never faced a problem they couldn't fix
  • Legal, tax, and employment questions inside operating decisions

In their own words

Proudest accomplishment?
01
The first one is the restaurants we built and the speed at which we built them, and that was a big deal. But I didn't do it alone. I had a lot of help.
Best advice he'd give?
02
Leadership is not a title. Leadership is an attitude. It doesn't matter what they call you. They can call you a janitor, but you can still lead people.
Most fulfilling part?
03
I had a woman that worked for me at Carino's that started the day we opened and left when we sold it.
