Expertise

Over a 40-year executive career, Ken ran title companies, first as owner of undercapitalized businesses that had to grow or die, then as head of a Fidelity National Financial division. He has taken over a company the year after it lost money and removed himself from daily operations when revenue rose and profit did not. He asks questions that change how a leader sees a problem, since "the answer to the question becomes obvious when seen from a different perspective." He fixes culture one weakness at a time.

Industry

Ken has worked in the Oklahoma title insurance industry, where he spent more than four decades in executive roles after working as an associate attorney and city attorney. He was president of several title and abstract companies, founded American Eagle Title Insurance Co., and later led a division of Fidelity National Financial, which had 12,000 employees when he left.

In their own words

Proudest accomplishment?
01
The year before I bought Lawyers Title, they lost a quarter of a million dollars. The first year I had it, we struggled, but I made six thousand dollars.
Best advice he'd give?
02
Know yourself. The first person you manage is yourself. If you can't manage yourself, you have disadvantaged yourself and your company from the start.
Most fulfilling part?
03
I would want people that I have worked with to know that I respected them, that I cared for them, and that I tried my best to make the place a good place to work.
