Expertise

For more than 30 years, Eric was the lawyer Continental Resources called when a problem needed fixing, first as outside trial counsel and then inside the C-suite as general counsel. He advised a public company's board through a change at the top, served as its first chief risk officer, and has taken bet-the-company cases to successful verdicts. He sets high expectations, stretches people, and believes in a culture of Why and that an individual's family and health are paramount.

Industry

Eric has spent his career in law and the energy industry. He practiced for 27 years as a trial lawyer, then spent more than a decade as general counsel and chief risk officer of Continental Resources, an oil and gas company then listed on the NYSE. He now practices at Phillips Murrah.

In their own words

Proudest accomplishment?
01
I think my work with Lawyers for Children was really important. Connecting with clients and making a meaningful difference in their careers, businesses and personal lives is most rewarding. And helping myself and others to find out how capable one can be. Serve, excel and lead is a worthy motto.
Best advice he'd give?

Get out there and take risks. You don't always have to play it safe. Have the courage to fail.
Most fulfilling part?

We're all gonna leave a mark, and so I want to try and leave mine a little bit better.
