Expertise

For 28 years, Abby kept Air Force combat aircraft ready to fly, from fighter flight lines to the depot and installation at Tinker AFB. She has commanded maintenance units, run logistics for a special operations unit's move between bases, shaped sustainment policy at the Pentagon, and stepped in after a leader was fired. She gathers input, decides with the information she has, and adjusts as it improves. She keeps asking why until a problem reaches its cause and holds people to a standard she calls "fair, firm, and consistent."

Industry

Abby served 28 years in the Air Force in aircraft maintenance and logistics, retiring as a colonel. She held squadron, group, and wing command, depot leadership at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, and logistics staff roles at the Pentagon. After retiring in 2025, she founded IronGrit LLC, an advisory firm for aerospace and defense companies in depot sustainment. In October 2026 she became the Logistics Director for TeamOKC for the 2028 Olympics.

In their own words

About Abby
01
I've been swimming since I was three. I can turn my brain off. By the end of thirty minutes, I'll have figured out things that were percolating way back there I couldn't get access to.
Best advice she'd give?
02
In HS, the diving coach pulled me aside. He goes, 'It takes 21 days to make a good habit.' If you can do it for 21 days, then you're going to get better.
Most fulfilling part?
03
It was taking wing command for sure, because for so many years I was told I would never get it. I loved the team I got to work with.
